Turmeric powder is made from the dried underground stems of the turmeric plant (a close relative of ginger) and is ground at low temperatures to preserve its nutrients. It serves as a natural colorant, a fragrant spice, and is a key ingredient in curry preparation.
Turmeric is considered a “”superfood,”” and its active compound, Curcumin, has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for daily health maintenance.
Curcumin is a fat-soluble nutrient, so it’s best absorbed when added to foods or drinks with healthy oils (such as avocado oil or coconut oil) and paired with black pepper.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the recommended daily intake of turmeric powder for adults is 2–3 grams (equivalent to about 60 to 150 mg of curcumin).
